Ronnie Irani

Lancashire, Essex and England all-rounder.

Irani scored over 20,000 runs and took over 650 wickets in first class cricket. He played in 3 test matches and 31 one day internationals.

Unfortunately a long-term knee problem came to a head and despite trips to a knee specialist in Germany, Ronnie was forced to give up bowling during the 2003 domestic season and concentrate on his batting. After Graham Gooch stepped down as the club's head coach prior to the start of the 2005 season, Ronnie assumed these responsibilities in addition to his role as county captain and flourished in both roles.

But his knee problems took their toll and mid-way through the 2007 season Ronnie announced his retirement and moved into a career on Talksport radio where he has become a popular co-host on the Alan Brazil Breakfast Show.

He is also very popular figure on the after dinner circuit.
